The lure of greatness continues to fill the Miami Heat roster. The question is if Allen Iverson is next? The Miami Heat have just managed to lure former Cleveland All-Star Zydrunas Ilgauskas to sign for the league minimum-salary. The prospect of playing with former team member Lebron James on star-studded cast was too much to resist.
This author from the Washington Post believes that Allen Iverson could bring fireworks to the line-up:
Suppose Miami signs Allen Iverson? You want some instant offense off the bench, a guy who can give Wade a breather and score 12, 14 points in a flash and be a matchup nightmare? Iverson says he’s ready to come back, that his family is healthy, that he’s refocused on helping a team in whatever way he is asked. The one thing Iverson doesn’t have is a championship ring, and Miami seems like just the place for him.
Did Allen Iverson struck gold last week with Lebron’s Decision? This DailyPhiladelphian.com author suggests that LeBron James may have cracked the door open for AI to not only play in 2010-11, but cap his career with the ring he covets.
There’s strong indication that Allen Iverson has been in talks to sign with Miami based on the fact that Lebron and A.I. share the same agent, Leon Rose.
The Heat need AI and AI needs the Heat. It’s a marriage made in Leon Rose’s office.
See, Leon Rose is the agent for Dictator James; he’s also AI’s agent. In fact, Leon rose to the top of the NBA agent profession based on his recruitment of Iverson from David Falk, the former King of the Agents.
You don’t think Rose wants Iverson back on the court? You don’t think he’s going to talk to James about AI joining the team?
Why else does it make sense for Iverson to join the Heat? Well, it just makes basketball sense – A.I. is at a stage in his career where he is a distributor
Aside from the agent connection, AI playing in Miami makes basketball sense. If nothing else, Iverson showed that he is willing to pass and doesn’t need to hog the rock during his brief layover in Philly last year. He was clearly a different player from the 2001 Iverson we all fell in love with.
Let’s hope that this opportunity is seized.
Could Pat Riley’s next move be to sign Allen Iverson? There is a lot of speculation out there about Pat Riley’s next move is to secure a veteran point guard after signing Lebron James, Dywane Wade and Chris Bosh. Allen Iverson could be a very good fit for the team. Allen Iverson has already said that he is willing to contribute in any possible to a championship-contending team, no matter how many minutes he’ll be putting in. What do you think?
I’m sure you all have heard the news by now. Yes, Lebron is moving to the same team that have been trying to sign Allen Iverson since last year’s off-season. Will Allen now join the super-team in Miami? Is this why Pat Riley was speaking to Iverson earlier?
This could be an excellent opportunity for AI to win a championship. Lebron, D-Wade both played together with AI in the Olympics and seem to be good friends. Could Allen Iverson finally win a championship with them?
Lots more to come soon. Stay tuned!
Allen Iverson and the Sixers made a valiant effort to dig themselves out of a 12-point hole to lead in the fourth quarter, but it was too much star power from James, who led Cavs to their 4th straight win over the Sixers. Andre Iguodala led the Sixers with 26 points, and Thaddeus Young and Allen Iverson each had 16. The Sixers have lost 13 of 14 games. verson had his left knee drained before the game for the second time this week and will have an MRI on Thursday.
“This one’s on me. I let us down tonight,” Iverson said. “I feel bad, that’s a game we should have won. We didn’t make shots at the time we needed to make shots.”
The crowd chanted “We Want A.I.!” with Iverson on the bench as the Sixers made a fourth-quarter charge that put them ahead against a team that has 13 more victories. Iguodala’s 3-pointer with 5:50 left stretched the lead to 94-90.
The Pistons are looking less and less like Eastern Conference contenders as they lose another one to Lebron James‘ Cavaliers, 99-78. Iverson scored 14 points, but vented his frustration about the lack of team chemistry:
We stunk the gym out,” said Allen Iverson, who led the Pistons with 14 points. “We acted like strangers out there tonight.”
The Pistons have lost their sixth straight game and are now at .500. The Pistons continue their tough road trip against Miami Heat.
