Sixers beat Heat, AI goes down Posted Thursday, February 28, 2002 by webmaster
The Sixers finally played with a sense of urgency and desperation as they beat the Heat 82 to 72. Despite shooting a horrific 27-for-46 free throws, the team played with strong defense and unity.
AI scored 31 points but went down in a scary, scary moment after colliding knee-to-knee with Eddie Jones at full speed. He stayed down for at least a minute, then left immediately for the locker room. Luckily, x-rays were negative; just a bruised high thigh. "I knew what it was," said Iverson, who was scheduled for examination today while being listed as day-to-day. "I knew it wasn't twisted or anything like that. It just hurt so bad. I kind of got dizzy out there for a second because I think I was moving kind of fast and [Jones] caught me with a clean shot." AI stormed into the trainer's room to confront Mutombo before the game, and was upset by Deke's annoyance over his comments after Monday's loss in which AI said, "We've got guys on our team that don't even know the plays at crunch time." AI reminded Deke that he had not named anyone. Brown later addressed the team.

Sixers lost to Portland 88 to 83 yesterday as Mo Cheeks made his homecoming. Sixers keep faltering, and can't seem to get over .500. But still, somehow I believe they'll make it to the playoffs.
Back In Action Posted Sunday, February 24, 2002 by webmaster My apologizes for the unexpected downtime. As I'm sure you're aware, we've been having some bandwidth problems with our ISP due to the incredible amount of downloads of the photos and video clips. We've been forced to switch servers, and it took a while to get everything back online. Good news is, you can expect ALL the photos and video clips back up and running. Alright, let's get to what we've missed...
On Thursday, the Sixers whupped the Warriors 114 to 107. AI dropped 46 points and had 8 rebounds. The Sixers decided to not make a trade at the deadline. For the struggling 76ers, maybe the best trade was no trade.
On Saturday, the Sixers got whupped by the Magic 105 to 87. AI had 32 points off 11-of-30 shooting to lead short-handed Sixers (No McKie, no Coleman). It wasn't enough to beat T-Mac, who got his first triple-D. AI and Snow played with effort, but the team didn't. "All our guys didn't match their effort," LB said. ``I grabbed Allen and Eric (Snow) and told them I was proud of them, but there are a lot of guys I wasn't very proud of, in terms of their effort."
Iverson nearly gets triple-D on sore toe Posted Tuesday, February 19, 2002 by webmaster
...and he would've, if he hadn't rest in the fourth quarter 'cause the Sixers were up 36 on the Nuggets. AI was a rebound and 2 assists away from his 2nd career triple-double, as the Sixers rock the Nuggets 110-83. It was a short and sweet kind of night and none of this might have been possible had Iverson not decided to test his sore toe. "I knew I was needed, just like these guys were. I tried to suck it up and see what would happen," Iverson said. Highlight of the night was when AI threw an alley-oop to 5'11" Speedy Claxton for the rim rockin' dunk.
AI sprains toe, Sixers lose to Pacers Posted Monday, February 18, 2002 by webmaster AI sprained his toe last game against Utah and did play against LB's former team, the Pacers. They lost, obviously, 86-76. But even worse was the fact that DC got in a fight, again. Last time he threw a sissy punch at Karl Malone (God knows why he would even try to start a fight with Malone), this time it was Reggie Miller. The two trash-talked and shoved; Coleman grabbed Miller's throat and Miller threw a punch and eventually both got ejected. Funny thing is, Coleman actually attempted to follow Miller into the locker room, but was stopped by security. Bravo DC, you got suspended, again, for 2 games! Sixers are stumbling, and as McKie puts it, "We're fighting for our lives now." AI is sidelined tonight against Denver, despite the sprained toe.

Sixers lose another ugly one to the Jazz, 98 to 91. Sometimes, you wonder if the Sixers are just a .500 team, no better, no worse, sitting in 8th place in a weak Eastern Conference. AI scored 34, shooting a poor 9 of 27, but the team played with a lack of effort.
RBK Answer V Commercial Posted Tuesday, February 12, 2002 by webmaster For all of you who missed the new RBK commercial feat. AI, Jadakiss, and the Answer V's, which aired during ASW, here's the Quicktime movie: low bandwidth | high bandwidth. Here are some stills:

Also, vote for AI as the MVP so far. It's a bit of a landslide with Jordan in the lead. But don't let Kobe beat AI!
West Win as AI holds back Posted Sunday, February 10, 2002 by webmaster
It was nothing like last year's All-Star game, where AI won the MVP in thrilling fashion. This year, it was more like a missed dunk (yes MJ, that's you), as the West beat the East 135 to 120. Kobe won the MVP scoring 31, but was booed from beginning to end. AI scored only 5 points on 2-for-9 shooting and played 25 minutes. You could tell AI held back, as he kept himself out near the end to let the first-time All-Stars play. "People in Philly get to see me all year round," Iverson said. "They see me play every game like it's my last. I think it would have been unfair to come in and just try to take over the show. I was just honored to be in the game." Yeah AI, but we knew you could've took over, right? More: Iverson decides to sit and watch the fourth quarter
Back In Action Posted Saturday, February 9, 2002 by webmaster Ok, we're back after a week of idling (sorry, I was cramming for exams), so sit back and relax 'coz we've a lot to cover. Here's what happened this week.
Tuesday was a remenisce of last year's semi-finals, as Sixers hosted Vinsanity and the Raptors. You'd think they'd pull off another gritty win after the Bucks game, but unfortunately fell short 100-93. AI had 36 points and 7 assists, but was ejected after getting his 2nd technical in the 4th. Yes, the refs had "tightass syndrome" that night. As AI said, "they took control of the game."
AI asked Dr. J, Julius Erving if he could wear his No.6 during the All-Star game in tribute of the Hall-of-Hamer. R-E-S-P-E-C-T, 'nuff said. It's been confirmed he's gonna wear it now, so Iverson is No. 6 in game, remember that. More Here are some articles: It was Wilt then, Allen now. Iverson serious about his hoops, paying respect to game's greats.
AI's on another NBA.com poll. Vote for the best Under-30 Nickname. Let's see, AI's been on 5 polls, winning 4. Unbelievable popularity.
No place like home for Iverson to be star. Not just a human highlight film.
On Wednesday, Sixers played Stack and the Pistons. It was an ugly, ugly slugfest as the Sixers lost 86-82. You know it's ugly when AI goes for 7-of-31, scoring 26. AI said, "When I leave here, I'm going to go looking for my shot because it just left me tonight. This is one of those games in my six-year career that I would like to forget."
AI is a busy man this All-Star weekened. He's holding a bigass event, here's the official site. AI, along with MJ, didn't show up for All-Star media day, paying the $10K fine.
On Friday, some good news as Sixers beat Hornets 100-93. AI scored 36 on a better 16-of-30 shooting.
AI's new DVD is making some noise. I went to grab it on Friday but it was delayed, so I won't have it till next Monday. Here's the Reebok All-Access Pass site giving you a taste of what to expect with some streaming videos. Get ready for a full review and possibly some video caps after I get my copy next week.
Reebok, or RBK, is harsh advertising for the All-Star weekend with AI's hot new Red Answer V's. Check out the wicked website.
After skipping Friday's media session for the first time in his career, AI arrived on time with MJ alongside. "I wasn't feeling well," Iverson said. That's ok since Jordan has been skipping the sessions for years. AI joked around with MJ, where they will undoubtedly form the best backcourt in the world. "I'm going to try to throw a couple of lobs," Iverson said, "try to get an assist to Mike." Replied Jordan, who is about to turn 39: "It won't be a lob. I can tell you that right now."
In other news, J-Rich is for real.

This one's for the ladies...AI is up on another NBA.com Throwback poll, this time it's the Wally Walker Award... given to the league's dreamiest hoopster. This one's a tight one with Ray Allen (or Jesus Shuttlesworth), Kobe, Wally World, C-Webb, and The Answer. So for all the gurls, go vote for AI.
East Finals Flashback Posted Saturday, February 2, 2002 by webmaster
The first 3 quarters were the most painful to watch. During a stretch, AI missed 16 of 17 shots. But, if you watched last year's East Finals, you'll understand how the Sixers grinded through a 86 to 81 victory over the Bucks on Saturday. The Sixers showed the same grit they showed last year by shutting the Bucks down in the 4th quarter with defense and toughness. Iverson said he felt this game was "better than any game [they] played this season. "We just kept fighting. That's the attitude of the team we had last year," he said. More: Coleman, Sixers rally past Bucks
Ankle-Breakers Posted Saturday, February 2, 2002 by webmaster AI is on another of NBA.com Throw-Back polls. This time it's the The Tim Hardaway Award ... given to the player with the nastiest crossover dribble. You can vote for Francis, Marbury, Payton, Van Exel, or you can vote, honestly, for the undisputed God of the Crossover, Allen Iverson.
Playa of the Month Posted Saturday, February 2, 2002 by webmaster After winning Playa of the Week for back-to-back weeks, it's obvious AI is January's Playa of the Month. Iverson led the Sixers to to an 11-4 record by averaging a league-high 32.6 points and put the Sixers back into playoff contention. Do I smell M-V-P?

The Answer V Mid in red is expected to come out soon. Click here for a larger pic. Also, Nike is launching a new pair of Jordans to compete with Reebok's Answers. The new Jordan's will cost $200 (no, really) compared to the $125 Answer V's. So, don't start looking for these Jordan's on basketball courts.
