Iverson would rather retire than be reserve
by Dal on Apr.02, 2009, under Uncategorized
Looking into the future, Detroit Pistons guard Allen Iverson would rather retire than be a full-time reserve.
Iverson returned to action this past weekend after missing 16 games with a back injury, and coach Michael Curry has used him off the bench the last three games.
Iverson complained about his minutes on Tuesday after playing 18 against Cleveland. He admitted that he does not like the new role after playing 17 in a 111-98 loss to the Nets on Wednesday.
“I’m in a position now that I’ve never been in my whole life,” Iverson said. “It’s harder than I thought it would be. With the back injury, I have to sit out at the start, then go in, then sit again. It’s tough to really get going. I take my hat off to the guys who can come off the bench and be effective. It’s tough for me. I’m struggling with it.”

its an insult to AI. I thought he will be a ginobili, odom or terry. I wanted to give it a chance. just to find out AI is 9th man. FFS , scrubs plays 17 minutes. And if u think AI is a scrub, u dont know anything about NBA.
curry is stupid clueless coach. Infact he is not the coach, its that useless joe dumars.
April 3rd, 2009 on 5:52 pm
Koko, you are the dumbest basketball fan here. Your right about AI, but no one in the NBA, meaning theyre playing at the highest level of basketball, is a so called scrub. No such thing. You are blind sided, look in the mirror for the real scrub!
April 2nd, 2009 on 7:38 pm
i think the problem is the coach curry, he should be replaced and not much experienced, joe dumars should open his eyes..
allen im a big fan of yours, if your not playing and your in the bench i dont watch the game,
future hall of famer. allen coach curry is destroying your career.
the best and goodluck

damn!fuck micheal curry man!!is he friggin blind??I mean honestly Detroit is a good team.used to be one of my fave cuz dey got outside shooting like Hamilton and prince.now with iverson,he’s an allstar player!!a former MVP!!!he shud be playing over 40min just like how he played in philla and Denver!!I mean ai is my idol.he is d only one who trully inspired me to play the game of basketball.I barely watch basketball games now cuz he barely is playing!18min?!?Iverson is a warrior.warrior in his rookie year, warrior in his pro years and he still is.I worship him and his game but Detroit isn’t treating him fairly.I rather put ai back to Philly!!anyway ai dont retire.if u love the game which I know u do,do not retire.my dream is to be able to play in d NBA against or with you.stay strong and rememeber only the strong survive.

Umm yeah i live in Detroit and I think AI needs to go. I still can’t see why we made this trade in the first place. Now look at us not top in the east or even second. Even if we made the playoffs it don’t matter we’d get smoked. This is the first losing season in so many years for us.:( and it just so happens when your fave player is acting like a 10yr old. Oh well I can’t wait till we free up all this $ with getting rid of him and sheed. thats 13 mill right there and with the free agents next year we’ll have enough $ to play around with. So don’t worry he won’t be a Piston for long nor will Curry be coach.

Ok, shawn, you say you live in the D. Well, i live In philly, and the only thing you said that made since was ai leaving your stupid ass pistons. Its well known ai make any team off the chain. but playing wit a bunch of asses make his stuff drop. Before ai got in detroit he was rockin a 27.9ppg average, and a 43.5mpg average. now he cant even get 16 points or 12 minutes in a game.because of hamilton, prince, and stuckeys jealous shit, and currys dumb ass coaching( or lack thereof)! Get rid of that jackass RIGHT NOW!!! as for AI coming back to philly, I say HELL YA!!! this is his home, this is his palace, we are his family, and their is no better place for him to be and eventually retire then HOMETOWN PHILLY!
April 5th, 2009 on 7:45 am
Sorry for the season, sorry for you being traded from Denver, sorry you got traded from Philly, then they fired the coach derrr. With a back injury you cannot keep a guy sitting after he warmed up thats just bascis.
I know Iverson can play with anyone including bench players he’s actually really good at it. But 18 min thats a huge insult. Next year, shit
April 5th, 2009 on 8:02 am
damn!
when will you guys realise it aint Iverson’s fault?
ok maybe his game has gotten a little lower than his days during his prime in philly but he still is a great player.best little man to ever play the game!
its all about detroit.the coach, the players.they dont give iverson the proper deal during games.iverson was the top 4 scoring leaders behind micheal jordan and kobe bryant and wilt chamberlain!
micheal curry is just fu**ed up.he doesnt know whos his star player is.i mean the triple threat could be iverson, richard hamilton and tayshaun prince as their scorers and rasheed as their big forward or center!
im just saying its not AI’s fault.hes struggling to get back to his normal game.not some 18min or less game where the coach doesnt even let him free to do his will.he can lead detroit!he can bring them to the championships!but no one nowadays dont seem to believe in him anymore.but i still do!
stay strong AI!

April 11th, 2009 on 6:36 am
yes ai is for me,my number one player since d day i started watching and1 street and nba.he is my role model and idol and i wish i get to meet him wen i reach d nba myself.hehe stay strong ai!
April 15th, 2009 on 2:36 am
Chuck hold your head man. The pistons don’t know what they had, and they are gonna get rocked in the playoffs without you. You don’t trade for a premier scorer who was doing just that in Denver and try to make him a role player or bench player. You bring him in to do what he does. I’m diappointed in the season and I’m not watching the playoffs, I’ll find something else to do with my time just like when Mike retired (the first time). See you next year A.I. and go hard.
April 15th, 2009 on 2:46 am
thats very true JB!haha finally sum1 who understands the situation of ai now.damn ai is d best!!detroit is just too low of a game for ai’s game to handle him!haha

prince rasheed hamilton and billups won the championship at 2003 together and made it in the playoffs like 6 straight yaears after that.
A.I plays a diffeerent way than detriot basketball.
A.i cant play like chauncey billups. curry should have known that iverson cant take billups place.
A.I plays b-ball his way unlike detriot.
thae trade is all currys fault
I WISH IVERSON GOES TO PHILLY OR BLAZERS

Allen Iverson is still the answer to any problem. Remember, back in 2001, how he carried the low scoring, low profiled 76ers to the finals and was able to steal a win against the all time powerful Kobe and Shaq duo of the Lakers? Even Michael Jordan admits that the Kobe and Shaq tandem is a very difficult to win ball game. But did A.I. think that? NO! He just played his game and never quitted. He never won the championship but it sure gave the unbelievers something to believe. Allen Iverson went through a lot of struggles in his life. I’m sure that he can get by this one. All you guys should be ashamed comparing Allen Iverson to Chauncey Billups. Let me ask you, did A.I get the help he needed from his teamates to win every ball game? No! (But Billups did) But he won all of it anyway. When A.I was playing with the Denver, where was Carmelo Anthony? But when Billups played for Denver, adjustments where made. The Nuggets was already strong. The Pistons is weak even before Billups left. The Pistons was wrong about A.I. see how the fruits of without-Iverson brought them against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Allen Iverson deserves a team who needs him not a team who blames him even if he isn’t playing for them.
Bobcats, Lakers, Mavericks or even Hawks would benefit from A.I. I would even love to see him play side by side with LeBron.
Wherever you go Allen, we’ll support you.

You could add every team in the league to that list.
But A.I doesn’t want to be that back-up point. He wants to be the X-factor,the best which would delete mose of the teams, like almost every team. Listen,if I could talk to A.I I would tell him this,he doesn’t have one of those shiny rings. If he really wants one he needs to go to a team that can get one. And fast. My vote,L.A,Cavs(would be good back-up for Mo),Boston(Screw Marberry). Then again the fact that he wants to be the number one player leaves him to teams like Charlote. But in the real since, could A.I really lead team like that to a championship? My point is A.I doesn’t fit anywhere that he wants to go,and that he could win a championship,am I wrong? Well, where he goes, rather he hich-hikes to a champion team or he leads one. We’ll always love to watch you play, and if you retire well then we will always have memories.
RE reading your comment made me think, what if he went to the knicks? And he could start over krytonate. And who might be going to the knicks next year? ;]

i think he should retire but not as a grizzly
Philly should sign him for 1 game and let that be his last
he should have number 3 retired in philly also
if he is to go he should do it this way so it is special and all of the ppl in philly who miss him can have him with us for 1 last time
