Raised by his hard-working mother (his father was in prison), Iverson lived in poverty his entire childhood. In his senior year of high school he went from being wooed by numerous colleges for both basketball and football, to serving time in jail and having those prospects disappear. But he persevered and went to Georgetown where he played basketball while majoring in Art. Since then he has become a basketball legend and role model – pretty amazing results for someone who to this day says football is his #1 sport.

Yet with all the fame and glory, Iverson remains incredibly grounded, insisting that basketball isn’t who he is but simply what he does. Baller, artist, rebel, devoted family man – has been able to thrive as an outspoken start without ever having to compromise who he is.

    I’ve always seen beyond the thug appeal and see something much softer. Allen will defend himself yet I can tell he is indeed a great person. Still today he is my favorite player and most likely always will be.

    Since I’m young I wasn’t even alive when Iverson was in college and drafted by the 76ers, but ever since he’s been my favorite player throughout any sport. Iverson wants a championship and I can tell, he’s softer than people think and that’s my favorite player.

    I hope Allen will go to a team in which he feels good. For him the most important thing is not to win a ring, but to know his teammates love playin with him. It would be beautiful to see him with coach Brown again. I feel sad about last season, the Pistons were a mistake. Thats not A.I.s team . Last was his worst season, but to come off the bench…thats a disgrace. Allen deserves better…

    i’m very sad knowing that a legend like AI is living a situation like this…but i just ask to all the people that talks wrong about him…have they ever seen before a 6 feet that have dominate the whole nba for more than 13 years??…..i’m sure that he is able to dominate yet..i just think that we will all have a lot of respect for what he does all these years trying to get the ring that all of famers like him desearves…thanks AI for being an example for me…..
