Allen Iverson’s Rank Among the Greatest 76ers of All Time

Regardless of whether Iverson returns in a Sixers uniform in the future, he still should be ranked highly among the greatest 76ers of all time. Iverson spent his prime years with the Sixers and ranks #1 in points per game (28.1 ppg), three-point makes and attempts, steals per game (2.3 spg), along with third in total assists, second in total steals, and second in free throw makes and attempts. He led the team to the 2001 Finals, the same year he won league MVP.

Unlike the Celts and Lakers, a lot of the Sixers’ defining players did not spend their entire careers with the organization. Wilt Chamberlain only played three and a half seasons with the team. Moses Malone was there for four years, then came back for a fifth when he was 38 years old. Julius Erving spent the first five years of his career in the ABA with Virginia and New York. Mo Cheeks spent the last four years of his between the Knicks, Spurs, Hawks and Nets. Charles Barkley reached his peak accomplishments (MVP, NBA Finals) after he left Philly.

But nobody besides Allen Iverson gets significantly more love from the Philly faithful. So where does Iverson rank among the great players mentioned above? Iverson might be the city’s favorite player, but has he had a better career for the Sixers than anyone else? Is he in the top three? Top five? What are you thoughts?

allen iverson is the greatest 76er of all-time. he has acomplished way more then any of those other greats, playin in philly.

Iverson is EASILY the greatest 76er of all time. No other Sixer great has accomplished as much as he did with the kind of players he had around him.

He is not only phila’s best player he is NBA’s top player. He ranked second in ppg of playoff games of all-time in NBA history(29,7ppg first MJ u can see:
http://www.nba.com/statistics/encyc/Player.jsp). He was a third in ppg of season but teams like Detroit kill’s his statistic(now 26,7ppg). No one dat have a height 6ft do stats like dat, won a MVP & others.Who is the crossover king?Who can play vs. anybody?Who is the unstopable?OF course ALLEN IVERSON.I think he is a one of the 5 top guards in NBA history. Maybe i’ll make a some mistake in writting.I’m crazy A.I.’s from MONGOLIA…

Simply Allen is da best sixer by far far far ant then he was and is the best in the NBA by far far far…….. He also has the most heart ( hope he returns to Philly next year )

You guys are a little young, A.I. best sixer since Wilt, but A.I. played with more passion that anyone. Wilt had no passion, at least on the court!

A.I. IS CERTAINLY ONE OF THE BEST PLAYERS I HAVE EVER SEEN. AS FAR AS EXCITEMENT, HE’S AT THE VERY TOP. IVERSON IS FOR SURE THE GREATEST 76er OF ALL-TIME.
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HIM COME BACK IN THE LEAGUE FOR ONE LAST RUN.
